Dylan's Surgery
News from Stacie regarding Dylan's surgery this morning. I believe he had a bulb inserted to help with the draining.
I just got the call from the resident doctor and Dylan did very well in surgery today. He is back in Giraffe Pod now and is not needing air, he is still on room air at this time. He is showing signs of pain, which is normal, and they will give him medicine as needed. He should be starting feeds up again as he can tolerate them. They are thinking he should be in Giraffe for at least a day or two then can be moved back to a level two and get ready to come home.

Zen thoughts
Michael, your quote reminded me of something the Buddhists like to say. There seems to be a conflict between knowledge or scholarship and wisdom. Here are a couple of illustrations:

Beyond both is a way up, but my mouth is not wide enough to point to it.
It is nonsense to insist that we cannot achieve enlightenment without learned and pious teachers. Because wisdom is innate, we can all enlighten ourselves.

The Iliad and Perhaps the Odyssey
Going further with the Peripatetic theme, Michael suggests research on the Iliad; perhaps insinuating some metaphor with his own family's travels. After some refreshing, I would consider Odysseus' travels in the Odyssey a closer resemblance.
I'm sure Christian would enjoy the battles with Lotus-Eaters, Cyclops, and Scylla (a six-headed monster). An awesome adventure indeed, I bet these monsters have never seen anything like us (especially with our new lightsabers).
Where ever the adventures take you, we can't wait to have you back home in Ithaca (Texas).

New Word of the Day
Peripatetic : I found this word when researching more about Jack Kerouac and Michael's mention of the novel 'On the Road'. The word was used to describe his life, and his autobiographical works; although, it also describes ancient followers of greek philosopher Aristole.

Why Software
I've posted many times regarding the affects of software improvements on our children's lives (i.e. learning to type instead of write). Another example of software improvement, in the hospital. A great example of the possibilities.
